Mission / Vision

We have a mission. Yes, we have an insanely large mission. Our huge mission? To make a giant ripple in the world and have everybody know us for doing something amazing. For now, and on this particular site, to make school a better place for everyone.

How we plan on doing that? Focusing on certain aspects of the current public school system that are good, and those that need to be fixed. An example is the whole art system. Sure, kids are always educated in what they 'need' to be educated in, like Math, Science and Social Studies. English, too, but that's a whole 'nother topic that we'd rather not get into right now. Let's be straight up about this. Art should be a core subject; something that you have for a full period, everyday. The Board of Education has clearly shown by their lack of creativity and encouragement in that sense that art to them is not a high priority. Maybe if there was more time everyday to do the things that kids enjoy, and you ask most people and they'll say that they agree with us, that they'd be less likely to hate school and skip. Another major problem is that smart kids are failing. Why? Because they are not allowed to do what they need to do in order to learn. Some kids needs to be writing while they listen to the teachers; others need to draw. Apparently the schools do not understand that and therefore do not allow it. That's causing major issues. Still don't exactly get what we mean? Here's an example of what would make a really good schedule:

Period 1 -  Period 1 is an hour-long period that is a core class, which means it consists of Social Studies and Math, Math and English, Math and Science, Science and English, Science and Social Studies or Social Studies and English.

Period 2 - Period 2 is an hour-long period that is an elective, which is either Technology or Home and Careers.

Period 3 - Period 3 is an hour-long period that can be either Physical Education or whatever Language you are taking.

Period 4 - Another hour-long period of core, consisting of whichever two classes you did not have in the morning.

Period 5 - A period that is one hour and fifteen minutes long; consists of Lunch and either Band, Chorus, Orchestra, or General Music.

Period 6 - A forty five minute period that takes place in a common area with the entire grade level present, isn't necessarily a study hall and can be used for anything, even just recreation. Especially for kids that do not have any classes with each other; they're given a period to be with their friends.

Period 7 - Art. Art is another hour-long period, but it is considered a core class as it should be, meaning you have it for an hour a day, everyday.

Health when needed will be at the end of the day and ten minutes will be deducted from every other class that day in order to make time for it. This is the same for assemblies. Most likely, Health or an assembly will take place every week.

 Rules:

- iPods are allowed in passing time, Art, English, Lunch, free period, PhysEd depending on the unit you are in, and any other class that the teacher allows. But the rule is that you cannot play games, only music, and if the teacher is talking it must not be loud and only one earbud may be in.

- You must have some sort of music class. General Music, Band, Orchestra, or Chorus. If you are in Band, Orchestra, or Chorus, you do not have to be in General Music.

- You may carry backpacks with you to your classes. There should be a drop off area in the room so if the teacher wishes that you do not have it next to you in class, you must put it in that designated area. Backpacks are not allowed to roll, have flashing lights, or make sounds.

- You are allowed to have your cell phone with you at all times, but it must be on vibrate and you must not use it in class; use it only for emergencies.

- Every student is allowed to bring their own laptop to school. If you do not own one, you may get one from the school. The laptop must be returned at the end of the year. If the laptop is not returned, you must pay the school to get a new one and if it is damaged, you must pay for it to be repaired. Viruses are not included in damage because the students are usually unaware when one is obtained. Cases and cords for Wi-Fi are included in damage and given to you with the computer.
